Connections

Hardware and market data links

Pollen connects to site hardware through APIs and imports live prices from European electricity markets. New sites typically need API credentials and confirmed asset parameters.

Hardware

Supported hardware types

Pollen sends dispatch instructions through inverter and battery management APIs. Connection needs credentials issued by the hardware vendor's management platform.

Inverters

Solar inverters

Grid-tied string and central inverters from major manufacturers. Pollen reads live generation and irradiance, then adjusts active power export within site grid limits.

Storage

Battery management systems

AC-coupled and DC-coupled storage systems. Pollen reads SOC and available capacity, then sends charge or discharge commands for each settlement period through the BMS API.

Metering

Smart meters and monitoring

Site smart meters and monitoring gateways measure export, import, and generation. Their readings support settlement reconciliation and period-by-period dispatch validation.

Weather

Site solar forecast

Per-site generation forecasts arrive through meteorological APIs. The optimization model uses them to estimate available generation in each upcoming settlement period.

Grid

Grid connection limits

Each site's import and export limits are set during onboarding and applied to every dispatch decision. API-exposed curtailment signals from grid operators are also handled.

Custom

Non-standard hardware

Hardware exposing a REST or Modbus API can connect through Pollen's custom connector setup. This is available in the pilot with Pollen engineering support.

Market data

Electricity price feeds

Pollen imports European day-ahead and intraday auction results through market APIs. Prices are normalized to 15-minute settlement periods for dispatch optimization.

Iberian Peninsula

MIBEL

OMIE day-ahead plus six intraday sessions across Portugal and Spain. MIBEL is the main market for much of the current Pollen pilot fleet, with 15-minute intraday prices and settlement data.

Central Europe

EPEX SPOT

Day-ahead and continuous intraday markets in Germany, France, Netherlands, Belgium, and Austria. Intraday Continuous supports updates nearer to delivery than auction sessions.

Nordic and Baltic

Nord Pool

Day-ahead and Intraday Continuous markets across Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and the Baltic states. Pollen handles each price area separately for transmission constraints.

Italy

GME

Italy's day-ahead MGP and intraday MI sessions. Zonal price differences are applied by connection zone during asset onboarding.

Getting connected

How a new site is onboarded

Site connection is a configuration task, not an installation. On-site hardware changes are not required.

01

Register the asset

Share the hardware type, grid capacity, battery size, and market zone. Pollen stores these details in the site's configuration record.

02

Set up API access

Provide credentials for the hardware management platform. Pollen tests the link and verifies read and write access to SOC and dispatch controls.

03

Configure policy limits

Define site rules for the minimum SOC floor, maximum export rate, and market price thresholds that restrict dispatch actions.

04

Start live dispatch

Pollen begins sending commands at the next settlement-period boundary. Early periods may run in monitor-only mode before autonomous dispatch is enabled.
